We can help you re-home your dog. With home foreclosures and moves, increased costs of care, and other unforeseen circumstances, many dog owners are finding it difficult to retain their pets. We also assist private rescuers with finding adoptive placements for the dogs they save.
If we are able to take the dog into our shelter we will have you complete our placement process. If we are not able to take in the dog because we're full or because your dog doesn't meet out intake criteria, we can help you find an alternative home for your dog by posting it to various adoption websites for you AT NO CHARGE TO YOU. We provide this option as a free service to the community in the hopes of safely and quickly re-homing displaced dogs without the owners having to take their pets to the pound. We, of course, cannot guarantee that your dog will find a new placement, but at least you will have the peace of mind knowing you tried everything you could to re-home your pet. We will not post ads for dog breeders.
To re-home you pet we will need you to fill out our referral form and send us at least three (3) good photographs of your pet. Keep in mind that potential adopters want to be able to see the dog before they adopt it; ads without pictures are usually overlooked. If you don't have a digital camera, you can purchase a low-cost throw-away from any local supermarket or drug store, and have the images developed onto a disk.
Once we have the photos and the information from the referral form, we will write up a descriptive listing for your pet and post it to adoption websites including:
and others
Because these sites attract adopters from all over the state of California, and all over the country, you may get people from outside of your local area and even out-of-state who want to adopt your dog. We can screen these adopters for you, if you like. We can also add a notation to the dog's listing that out-of-area adopters will have to pay to transport the dog themselves, or come to you to pick up the dog.
You can charge an adoption fee to the adopter if you like (the minimum fee is $0.00, and the maximum fee is $150.00). An average re-homing fee to charge is $35.00. We will not post listings for dog owners who want more than $150 for their pet. Generally, re-homing fees for dogs listed through this referral program go directly to you; the agency does not collect the fee and is not entitled to the fee. If you would like to donate the fee to our agency, you may indicate that on the form below.
After we post the dog to the websites, we'll keep you informed of every inquiry we receive from potential adopters. you make the final decision about who gets to adopt your dog, and you assume all liability associated with turning your dog over to a potential adopter. If you have any questions, please e-mail us.
Fill out the following form in full and then click on the SUBMIT button only once. If you've filled it out correctly, the form will be send directly to our incoming e-mail box within 24 hours. Remember to send photos to us of your dog as well. Before you fill out the form, read the following:
